Playboy dealer’s appeal refused

- LEA EMERY

A PLAYBOY drug dealer who wanted to have the amount of time he spent behind bars reduced because he told police where to find guns and explosives has had his appeal denied.

Matthew Delander (right), who was jailed for nine years in June last year, used thousands of dollars he made from dealing ecstasy and ice to fund a lavish lifestyle in Surfers Paradise.

Delander threatened people with violence, had possession of multiple guns and took a Toyota Prado as payment for a drug debt.

He was sentenced in the Brisbane Supreme Court to nine years in prison to be released after serving four-anda-half years.

Delander appealed that decision claiming his willingness to give up where explosives and weapons were hidden should have led to a reduction in his sentence.

But the Court of Appeal last week disagreed in a threejudge decision. The judges said while the sentence was at the “higher end” it was within range.
