Protester hit by horse

-

VIOLENCE has tainted a series of anti-Adani mine protests in central Queensland over the weekend as a woman was left in hospital last night after being struck by a man riding a horse.

Stones were thrown at other protesters and fire crackers let off in an alleged attempt to intimidate protesters who thought they were being shot at as they gathered in the town of Clermont as part of an antimine convoy which has covered much of the eastern seaboard.

The 62-year-old woman fell to the ground and suffered a back injury about 4pm and was taken to the Clermont Hospital in a stable condition.

Police last night said a man alleged connected to the incident was assisting them with investigations.
