REQUIEM BRINGS JOHN BACK HOME

-

SATURDAY night’s performance of Verdi’s Requiem at HOTA held special meaning for singer John Nicholson. “My first big role was at GCAC as Curly in Oklahoma - the production by Robert Young and Lance Smith. It was such a thrill to be in the Opera Queensland chorus on Saturday. I’ve been working in Sydney with Opera Australia for 10 years and moved back to the Gold Coast to be closer to my family,” said John. “Last year I was invited to sing with the US based group, ARIA. We toured Italy and performed our show HOME in Italy, Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica. ARIA will return to Europe again and then there will be a US tour at the end of the year and a Christmas album. To think it all began by working at GCAC all those years ago.” A brilliant career.
