Elite trio star at state titles
COMPETITORS from Burleigh Heads’ Elite Rhythmic Gymnastics Club have continued their recent stellar form with outstanding performances at the Senior State Championships over the weekend.
Elite’s three athletes, Riana Narushima, Varvara Rubis and Sonya Lee proved their performance in the recent OHK Cup in Japan was no fluke with a haul of medals.
Narushima placed second overall in her division and returned from Brisbane with one gold, two silver and one bronze medal just weeks after winning gold in the hoop apparatus in Japan.
Rubis placed fourth overall winning the bronze medal in her hoop routine, while Lee placed fifth overall in Level 10 with a bronze medal in her clubs routine.
The girls will now turn their attention towards the Australian National Championships in June.
They will also perform at the Gold Coast Sports Festival on May 8 at Kurrawa Beach, Broadbeach.
