China post for principal
THE principal of one of the Gold Coast’s largest prep to year 12 schools has announced his resignation after he accepted an offer to teach abroad.
Upper Coomera State College executive principal Mike O’Connor told the school community earlier this week that he would be leaving his role lead an International College in China.
Mr O’Connor (pictured) was appointed to the position in 2017.
“I am very proud of the excellent work the students and staff of the college have produced during my time here, and feel very confident that an excellent platform for continued success has been established,” he said in an online post.
Previously, Mr O’Connor was the principal of Browns Plains State High School and Mabel Park State High School.
He has undertaken doctoral research on Queensland Secondary School practices and strategies to improve student attendance.
The school is now advertising for a new executive principal. Applications close on May 7.
Mr O’Connor’s final day will be on May 31.
