When will any pollie recognise the significant positive financial impact that parents who choose to send their kids to private schools have on the budget and economy? Most who do it can barely afford it, so where is the reward for cutting billions of off education expenses? Something to think about … Jonesy

Just been wondering how the greenie mob protesting about the new mine can get so much time off work? Fred from Coombabah

Gold Coast Retirees whinging complaining, have coffee pity parties about having their franking credits taxed, like they couldn’t afford to buy the last loaf bread or bottle of milk. Guess what guys, money that comes into your bank accounts, is income and should be taxed, no ifs, butts or maybes. Get off your high horses, you have had it too good for too long, with untaxed franking credits.

Hansel and Gretel GCCC – The next episode but they didn’t leave a trail of bread they left a trail of concrete footprints

I hope we don’t run out of water anytime soon because that big money tree that Bill Shorten has found is going to need a lot to keep it alive.

What a debacle Australian politics is in. All I heard last night was the two leaders trying to out talk each other. What about real issues like building new jails? Why did I pay tax all those years? Chef Simon

Having watched the debate with Scott Morrison and Bill Shorten I would definitely not believe Bill Shorten came out on top. PM knew all his figures far more confident than Shorten. PM continually asked Shorten to come up with his costs but he just avoided the question and not once could come up with costs and how Labor would fund his big spending promises. Would I trust Shorten? Not in my wildest dreams. PD

Appalled Perko. I agree. The dog was probably as old as the man the policewoman and GCCC guy booked. Pointless priorities here. LS

Re toothache! If you don’t have regular check-ups there’s every chance you’ll need the tooth removed. Go to a regular dentist. They can assist. LS

Bistro bob: Apparently a brick artist and toy photographer are real jobs. The world has lost the plot. Haha!

Noel, you are either in denial or very optimistic if you think

your current Wallaby team can win this year’s World Cup. This Wallaby team wouldn’t even beat the Crusaders let alone a full strength All Blacks team. JWH.

Agree with B. Must have seen the same old movies 100 times on different channels all the time. Are the TV programmers just too lazy to look, and put the same old stuff on. Also agree kitchen reno shows have reached saturation point. Thank god for SBS. D

The Wiz … where the heck do you shop? I have never paid that much for fruit when I shop so find it hard to believe your story! Robina

Labor State Govt says cross river rail will “enable” a train to leave Brisbane for Gold Coast every 5 mins. But they won’t because they don’t have the trains for a start, let alone the brains. The devil is in the detail. Political spin again meaning nothing.

If I have a severe toothache I go to a dentist not the GCUH – you should try it. A local

One Nation ex-representative Steve Dickson, being drunk and not in control if your actions while groping a stripper is no excuse. Everyone has a duty to stay in control of their own actions at all times. Solution is easy – drink less!

So the lower Coast is left out again. We at Currumbin are always left out – no prepolling booth in our area. Absolutely disgusting. Sue, Currumbin

To all those people who don’t want to vote. I am sick of hearing “I don’t like any of them”. You don’t have to, they are there to do all the debating. Look at the scoreboard not the person.

Politicians should have full health checks before we vote for them. Clive’s votes look like they’re rising but so does his cholesterol. Wendy

Once again Morrison as Treasurer did not know what he was talking about. Taxes have gone up, between 2013 to 2017-18, Federal Govt taxes went up 10% raising a record 427B. A higher tax rate than Gillard Govt. Tax paid by workers went up 7%, personal income revenue up 25%, taxes from super up 78% company tax up 20% since LNP came in as Govt. Federal Taxes have hit a record 17,094 per person up 1299 in one year. Clearly not a lower taxing government.

Hey B, you say you can’t afford Stan or Netflix ... just wondering do you work at all? A part-time job would get you more than enough for one or both of those services. Kyra

I’m listening to Scott Morrison and he said we are back into surplus as we pay down the debt. He’s talking in riddles or he must think I am stupid. Trust me
