IF you haven’t heard them yet, you certainly will now.

Gold Coast band Peach Fur will open up the Gold Coast Music Awards tonight before the city’s premiere festival Surfers Paradise Live kicks off tomorrow .

The band will perform alongside other Gold Coast acts, San Mei and Casey Barnes, followed up by some of the biggest names in music across the four-day event, including the Hoodoo Gurus, Daryl Braithwaite, the Screaming Jets and the Living End.

Vocalist Denny Hilder said the band, consisting of Ben Crichton on lead guitar, Mikey Woodworth on drums and Liam Ward as bass guitarist, were excited to open up the festival.

“It’s going to be our biggest gig yet,” he said.

“We’ll be playing songs from our old EP and from our latest, and we’re slipping in a brand new song too.”

Hilder said the band formed in high school before finding Ward as their bass guitarist and were a blend of rock, reggae and psyche surf pop.

After Surfers Paradise Live, they plan to keep up the momentum by touring down the east coast of Australia, playing at cities and towns including Brisbane, Newcastle, Port Macquarie and Melbourne.

The band would also tour around Europe for a month in September.

Surfers Paradise Live is in its fifth year and encompasses 40 stages across the entertainment hub.

The Living End, Jebediah and Reece Mastin will perform tomorrow followed by the Hoodoo Gurus, Daryl Braithwaite and Thirsty Merc on Saturday. The Screaming Jets, Chocolate Starfish, Boom Crash Opera and Bachelor Girl will close the festivities on Sunday.
