Misspelling on poor ID

- ANNIE PERETS

A TATTOO-SHOP worker used a photo of a forged licence that was so bad it included spelling mistakes, to book a Surfers Paradise hotel room, a court was told.

Nerissa Marie McGilvery Manson’s forgery was only caught when she tried to extend her stay at the resort.

Manson was also found with a cleaner’s hotel key, glass pipes used to smoke illicit drugs and other people’s driver’s licences, birth certificates and pension cards after police searched her on March 6.

She pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday to multiple charges including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of tainted property, dealing with persons’ identification details and possessing drug utensils.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Greg McKenzie said Manson also used the photo of a credit card to check into the hotel.

The hotel workers called police when Manson could not provide the real card.

Sgt McKenzie said Manson also drove a stolen car through the Gold Coast in March while on probation for other offences.

The court was told Manson had a $15,000 State Penalties and Enforcement Registry debt.

Magistrate Kerrie O’Callaghan extended Manson’s nine months probation order to 12 months.
