NIGHT MARKET COMING TO CARRARA

- BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT

ORGANISERS of the Gold Coast’s newest night market have been forced to tell excited Carrara residents they aren’t the new NightQuarter.

Gather & Feast opens its doors for the first time tonight at the Carrara Sports & Leisure Centre.

Thousands are expected to attend the event hosted by The Design Collective Market & Events, a group known for hosting pop-up events across the Coast.

Co-owner Kat Creasey said her team was working with Gold Coast Council to “revitalise the space”.

“It’s the first one, it’s our trial market to see what the locals think,” she said.

“Carrara’s not far from Nerang but a lot of people won’t travel there to come to an event. A lot of people are commenting online thinking it’s the new NightQuarter.

“We’re trying to tell people we’re different from them, we just pop up then pack down and leave. Regularity seems to be killing markets so this way our foodies get a whole new crowd every time.”

Among the almost two dozen vendors attending the market is Karenn Frieberg, who runs children’s clothing brand Gravel & Lace with her daughter. “The event is family oriented, which is really good for our business,” she said.
