LIGHTS, CAMERA POLO

- CHANTAY LOGAN

THE rich and famous will have a new playground when stage one of Rivermead Estate opens at Guanaba today.

The multi-million-dollar equine epicentre, the official home of Gold Coast Polo, is already fielding interest from the film industry and festival organisers.

General manager Chrissy Keepence said stage one of the decadent development included a six-bedroom homestead strategically screened from prying eyes, and paparazzi, and a tournament-approved polo field.

“The homestead itself is the perfect place for Baz Luhrmann or Tom Hanks to hang out. It’s that kind of AList retreat,” she said.

“The film industry is really excited about being here because we have this beautiful plantation-style homestead centrepiece of 55 acres, with a lake and unparalleled polo field.

“I’m not at liberty to say who, but we have some very interesting visits coming up in the near future.

“We’re in that golden circle near Village Roadshow Studios that location scouts love, so we’re unrivalled when it comes to the possibility. Smaller festivals, bespoke concerts – we’ll see what unfolds.”

Stage two of the project – now out to tender – is an indoor equestrian centre attracting international interest, while the approved third stage comprises an artisan village, 150-seat farmto-table restaurant and 20 two-bedroom accommodation pods.
