GOLD COAST WRAP WITH LADBROKES’ TOM HACKETT

-

WINNERS

Winning Ways (Race 4) Unwanted in betting with Ladbrokes and started at $15, but she stamped herself as a genuine Queensland Oaks contender with a tough win in the Gold Coast Bracelet. The way that she found the line suggests that the step-up to 2400 metres will not be an issue and she has been $21 into $9 in Queensland Oaks betting.

Life Less Ordinary (Race 8) As tough as they come and he relished the heavy track to score a solid win in the Hollindale Stakes. Now into $11 in Doomben Cup betting with Ladbrokes and no reason he won’t go close.

Demerara (Race 9)

Has a simply outstanding first-up record and she has now recorded four wins from her five first-up wins. That was her first look at a heavy track and she didn’t look to relish it, but her class got her home in the end. She is set to be a serious player during the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.

LOSERS

Boomsara (Race 6)

The scratching of Zoustyle left Boomsara as an odds-on favourite in the Gold Coast Guineas and he did not go a yard on the heavy track. You’d never want to back him on a heavy track again.

Kenedna (Race 8)

Went into the Hollindale Stakes on the back of an impressive win at Group 1 level in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes, but was unable to replicate that. Looked as though she would feature in the finish, but died badly on her run late.

NEXT TIME

Accession (Race 3) Nay have been narrowly beaten by Stronger in the Ken Russell Memorial Classic, but he lost no admirers with his performance. James McDonald asked him for an effort a long way from home and he was forced to circle the field coming into the straight. He was entitled to tire late and will take good benefit from that run.

Quilista (Race 9)

It took a smart horse in Demerara to beat Quilista in the Silk Stocking and the wide barrier draw meant she was forced to do a lot of work early. Her and Demerara put a big gap on the rest of the field; a return to winning form is just around the corner.
