Warriors on rampage
A SIX-goal haul from Jemima Lockley led Southport to a 14-0 annihilation of North Brisbane in Round 9 of the Brisbane Women’s Premier League on Saturday.
Coming off a horror 6-3 loss to Coomera, the Warriors were simply unstoppable at Ashmore Village Park as Lockley, an off-season recruit from Mudgeeraba’s ill-fated NPL Women’s outfit, helped them to their third win of the season.
“The team played exceptionally well and the finishing was clinical,” coach Trent Gregson said. “After our poor performance last week, we had a slight reshuffle and worked on somethings at training that we executed on the field.”
“Next week will be a great challenge heading up to play Peninsula Power.”
Fellow finals contenders Coomera secured their fourth victory with a 5-0 rout of Taringa, while Robina City bounced back from a 10-2 loss to Annerley with a 5-2 win – highlighted by a Shelby White hat-trick – at home to Virginia United.
