Pokemon makers release Potter game Down Under

-

AUSTRALIAN Harry Potter fans are the first in the world to trial a new mobile game inspired by the franchise.

Last week the developers of

Pokemon GO, Niantic, dropped

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite onto the App Store and Google Play, to once again entice gamers into stepping outside to play.

While Australian and New Zealanders have only been given a taste of the game via a beta version ahead of its official release, it’s already proving to be as addictive as its Pokepredecessor.

Despite the developers warning the Beta version might be buggy and unstable, it’s already clicking high on the App Store with a 4.2 review and hundreds of players in under a week.

The game, inspired by J.K Rowling’s books, sees players take on a role in the Statute of Secrecy Task Force after a bunch of things go wrong and magic starts to appear in the Muggle World. Typically Muggles live in a society that is separate to wizards and Muggles cannot perform magic.

The players’ job is to solve the magic problem and prevent muggles from seeing it.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite follows a similar open world format to Pokemon GO, using real-time 360 map locations as part of the fun so gamers need to get outside and walk.
