GLOBAL ‘BRUSH’ FOR NED

- TALISA ELEY tali.eley@news.com.au

A GOLD Coast ecowarrior has been recognised as a top name in global sustainability. And remarkably he is just 11 years of age.

Ned Heaton, from Tamborine Mountain, was named Changemaker of the Year in the international Be The Change awards in London, despite being too young to enter.

But a personalised video entry convinced the judges they needed to bend the rules to allow the determined youngster to compete alongside adult entrants.

Ned’s passion for ridding the world of unnecessary plastic through beach clean-up days and lobbying against plastic toothbrushes has been getting attention around the globe.

The youngster is still working on his pledge to give away one million bamboo toothbrushes through his online ecoshop to replace less sustainable plastic brushes on the market.
