A REBELS bikie has been arrested for allegedly strangling and assaulting his partner in two horrific domestic violence incidents.

The 35-year-old outlaw motorcycle gang member (OMCG) was arrested on Tuesday night and charged with strangulation, assault and domestic violence order offences.

It will be alleged that over a two-day period between May 3 and 5, the Willow Vale man attempted to strangle and assault his partner, who had a current domestic violence protection order in place at the time of the incidents.

In one incident, police will allege he strangled his 25-yearold partner in a public carpark in Signato Drive, Helensvale.

The allegedly violent incident was broken up when members of the public came to the woman’s aid and took her to safety before contacting police.

A Taskforce Maxima investigation, supported by Gold Coast Police, led to the man’s home being raided on Tuesday night, when he was taken into custody.

Acting detective Inspector Jacquelyn McLeod said they would continue to target OMCG members who committed crime on the Coast.

“Taskforce Maxima will continue to protect the victims of domestic violence and target OMCG offenders who commit crime in our community,” Inspector McLeod said.

“Detectives from State Crime Command continue to engage and work in partnership with South East Queensland Domestic Violence police co-ordinators, high-risk teams and external agencies to ensure an integrated service response for gang-related domestic and family violence.”

The man was charged with two counts of strangulation in a domestic setting, common assault and three counts of contravention of a domestic violence order.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
