Driver held in citizen’s arrest
RESIDENTS conducted a civil arrest after a car crash in northern NSW.
At 4.10am on May 2, a 25-year-old man was allegedly involved in a minor traffic crash on Watego Dve, Pottsville.
The man was detained at the scene by residents until police arrived and breath-tested him. He allegedly returned a positive reading.
At the Tweed Heads Police Station the man took a second test, which allegedly returned a blood-alcohol reading of .255.
The man’s licence was immediately suspended and he was charged with drink-driving with a high-range PCA.
He is due to appear in court on May 27.
