Yippee, South East Qld may be bidding for the future Olympic Games. Time for Peter Beattie and Katie Noonan to update their resumes! DM.

What a circus it was to see the unions marching on Labour Day, especially the CFMEU, who have abandoned their own mining members at the Adani mine. These weak men join this union to hold their hands because they haven’t got the guts to front their boss personally to iron out any problems, they run crying to their union instead. John, a tradie.

Ooh, ooh, I know; let’s get a “trackless tram” system, where the trams run on rubber wheels. They can each generate their own power using on-board engines. Instead of calling them trams we could call them “omnibuses”, or just “buses”. Oh, wait …

To the nameless idiot dumping on every NSW player in the Test team – give yourself an uppercut! Who would you re- place them with? DJB

Bill’s concerns about unstable leadership in LNP was worth a laugh when he trotted out HIS victims Rudd & Gillard. J.B.

Geoffrey the reason the other inspector stays beside his partner is in case the person becomes violent. Too many lowlifes out there.

Who cares if people chose to spend their money on lattes and smashed avo, they keep our cafes alive, they keep wait staff in jobs, they keep your small businesses open and people in jobs. Why is everyone so judgmental? Avo lover

I agree with ‘A Local’ who informed us he has lived on the same water for 50 years and says the water has not risen one inch and how true that is. We bought a home on the Nerang river in 1971 and built a concrete wall to prevent any erosion and placed a high and low marker on the wall to keep an eye on the tides, and there has been no increase in tide heights after 48 years. This sooky young generation of greenies might be brainwashed into believing in global warming and rising seas, but us older wise ones know better. Don.

No doubt the economy needs a boost but do it wisely. Train and hire hundreds more police, give jobs to people who want them, and clean up the streets. The drugs on the Coast need to be cleaned out!

Most would agree with Sally Spain in what she wants but not in the way she wants to accomplish it. Yelling and stamping your feet will accomplish

nothing. Acting in a responsible way does. rocket

Ban all cricket cheats for life. We don’t need people like this playing for Australia.

John, trams on pylons above the traffic, they are already known to break down. Pelicans perch on Currumbin bridge every day. Perched tram, hardly an attractive view of the beautiful GC, which it is now. And Currumbin Sanctuary, I’m sure the animals would be impressed. J

Good on you Keith Woods saying what many reckon – Qld taxpayers do not need to fund an Olympic Games to boost Brisbane’s bruised ego. Plenty of other things to fix – roads, health, law and order, boosting rural and regional communities, etc - Curly Bells

So a girl has thrown an egg at our prime minster and is charged with common assault. May I remind the government that an egg was squashed on Fraser Anning and the police said that’s ok? Has anybody assessed the force it took to break that egg yet the little thug got off scott free. Are we seeing a double standard here? BB LNP or ALP? Hah! Under the current controlled voting system we either get one or the other. THEY don’t care as they are either in government or in opposition getting their high wages and stroking their egos and then retire on their self-voted retirements perks. If you are as dissatisfied as I then we need to change the voting system and take back control as at the moment they have control of your vote. They being Pollies. BWM, Coolie

I don’t know what all the fuss is about. Labor don’t care how much debt they rack up, because they have the Perth Mint to print all the billions they need. We are not allowed to do the same when we go into debt. The Accountant

In a classic case of life mimicking art, a Polish mate notes that our Premier’s surname is correctly pronounced “Palachook”. Shano

I can’t help but notice the bulk of Tom Tate’s gift of increased infrastructure spending is at the northern end of the coast. Now a couple of million for a dive site at Narrowneck. I would like to remind our esteemed mayor that there are ratepayers south of Broadbeach. Lawman, Palm Beach

The royals are a business. And people with questionable intelligence lap it up. Society has progressed by opposing discrimination, sexism and racism while promoting equality for all. As society progresses the royal machine will be viewed as archaic, elitist, self indulgent and will be slowly dismantled. And it can’t come soon enough. Sarah
