Knights set for Power in FFA Cup
THE Gold Coast Knights will do battle with fellow NPL heavyweights Peninsula Power in Round 6 of the FFA Cup, while Palm Beach and Surfers Paradise are also set for showdowns with some of Queensland’s best sides.
Less than 24 hours after beating Sunshine Coast Wanderers 3-1, the Knights were yesterday drawn to face unbeaten NPL leaders Power in the next round.
Goals from Jarrod Kyle and Matthew Schmidt gave the visitors a 2-0 halftime lead on Tuesday night before a second-half own goal put the game to bed for the Knights.
Gold Coast Premier League outfit Surfers will host sixthplaced NPL side Moreton Bay, with Palm Beach to travel to Olympic, who sit fourth.
Fresh off an extra-time win over Redlands United, Coomera will play away to QPL side Holland Park, while Burleigh Heads will host the QPL’s Logan Lightning.
Dates and times for Round 6 fixtures will be announced in the coming days.
