Claims of bail breach
A NERANG man who narrowly dodged prison after being convicted of child pornography offences has been accused of breaching probation.
Thomas Alan Jones fronted Southport District Court yesterday.
The 25-year-old man who works in roadside vegetation maintenance was charged with breaching probation.
Jones was sentenced in January for using a carriage service to access child exploitation material and using a carriage service to make child exploitation material available.
The offending between March 2012 and June 2016 resulted in a two-year probation order.
Facing Judge Katherine McGuinness, Jones was accused of failing to attend sessions with the Department of Corrections Probation and Parole department.
“Why were you breaching your probation on such a serious charge?” she asked. “You are so fortunate you didn’t go to jail in the first place.” The case was adjourned to May 23.
