Bikie is free to bear arms

GUN laws designed to crack down on gangs have been beaten by a top bikie.

The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal on Wednesday overturned a firearm prohibition order against former Rebels president and lifetime member Colin Websdale.

Acting VCAT president Felicity Hampel found the evidence did not establish that public safety would be improved by stopping Mr Websdale from accessing guns.

Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton yesterday said the force was examining the reasons for the tribunal decision.
