MELBOURNE PIZZERIA IS TOP CRUST
MICHELE Circhirillo is expecting to make a lot of Di Parma pizzas this week.
The $25 creation, topped with tomato sauce, fior de latte, prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, rocket and Grana Padano, has just been named the best pizza in Australia.
“It was always popular, but I guess it will be even more so now,” said Mr Circhirillo, the founder and head chef of 48H Pizza e Gnocchi, in the Melbourne suburbs of South Yarra and Elsternwick.
He said he was “still floating” after the win at the World Pizza Championships in Parma, Italy, where 763 contestants from 41 countries took part.
“This was my third time at the competition and winning was wonderful,” he said.
The best pizza in the world is from Britain’s Purezza.
