CLIVE Palmer stands alone among highprofile MPs and aspiring politicians in understanding how critical light rail is to the Gold Coast. Yesterday he condemned the major parties for disrespecting the city in pledging inadequate federal funding for stage 3A. The project is in jeopardy.

Mr Palmer says he will fight, so as it stands he is the city’s only hope – assuming the poll result is so close his party plays kingmaker. The pressure is on. We await LNP and Labor responses with keen interest.
