COASTPUTS ON DEMONSTRATION FOR SPORTING ELITE

THIS week’s Gold Coast Sports Festival saw an exhibition of 3x3 basketball with Gold Coast’s two associations taking to the court in front of a crowd filled with the world’s sporting elite. This was highlighted by Horacio Muratore, the current FIBA president who was on hand to see the official opening of the Patrick Baumann court.

Patrick Baumann was the former president of the Global Association of International Sports Federations and secretary general of FIBA.

The two Coast teams (pictured inset with officials) went head-to-head in two games with the seniors ending up at 9-9, while the Seahawks edged out a win in the junior game.

QBL ACTION THIS WEEK

NEARLY all four Gold Coast teams are in the top eight as the ladder stands.

The only exception is the Rollers women, who are ninth.

After two rounds it’s great to see the Seahawks girls flying on top of the table. They should easily dispose of Brisbane this week.

The Rollers have a big Mother’s Day Sunday against Rockhampton. The men’s game will be fascinating to see if the Rollers respond from the disappointing performance last week and can bounce back. SATURDAY
