Write Reds off at your peril: captain

-

THEY have dealt with fatigue, lightning, and a wayward taxi driver but Adelaide United captain Isaias Sanchez insists his underdogs will be up for the fight when they take on Perth Glory in tonight’s A-League semi-final.

The Glory will start as the hottest of favourites on their home deck of HBF Park.

United will enter the game off a five-day break after Sunday’s 1-0 extra-time victory over Melbourne City, while the Glory will have enjoyed an 11day break since their 5-0 win over Wellington in Perth.

United’s players were given a scare at training on Tuesday when lightning struck part of Coopers Stadium.

Isaias’ arrival to training in Perth yesterday was delayed when his taxi took him to HBF Stadium instead of HBF Park.

The 32-year-old was able to laugh off that honest error but he was deadly serious when talk turned to his team’s chances.

“Perth can be the favourites. They are the current champions of the league,” Isaias said.

“They have had a fantastic year. But this is a different competition. We are coming here to fight. We are not coming here for holidays.”
