SEARL THE CAT WHO’S FINALLY GOT THE CREAM

- TOM BOSWELL

BROADBEACH coach Beau Zorko says the Cats are finally seeing the player they always knew was there in Josh Searl.

Zorko praised the playing life member who he believed was in some of the best form of his career for the Broadbeach QAFL side in the early stages of the 2019 season.

Searl has played 125 senior games for the Cats over 11 seasons but has also battled to keep his body fit and injury free.

Zorko said a change in tack with the 28-year-old in 2019 had enabled Seal to stay healthy and produce his best.

“He has come back and been in a rich vein of form and that has been really pleasing,” Zorko said.

“I have got a real pleasure in watching him play and seeing him enjoy his football.

“He has shown throughout his career that he has had the talent to play, not just in the QAFL, but the NEAFL when Broadbeach were in it and Josh was a significant part of that team.

“To see the enjoyment he is getting out of his football now, finally getting his body right and getting some games under his belt is building his confidence.

“We are starting to see the player who we always knew was there but with some different eyes been able to take a different approach on the way we have prepared his body for a season of football.

“His experience, class and poise with the ball is a massive asset for us.”
