Knights snatch a draw

-

THE Gold Coast Knights last night salvaged a 3-3 draw from a remarkable Round 15 NPL trip to Olympic.

The Knights were forced to play the closing stages with 10 men after Jaiden Walker was injured in the 67th minute.

But the delay surrounding his exit was decisive, with the Knights equalising through Oskar Dillon in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

They had earlier taken a 1-0 lead into halftime courtesy of a Jarrod Kyle goal, before two Olympic goals inside 10 minutes of the resumption put the Knights on the back foot.

Scores were level again when Matthew Schmidt tapped in 15 minutes into the second half, but the hosts’ onegoal buffer was restored seven minutes later. The result keeps the Knights in third spot, with Olympic fourth.

In Round 13 of the NPL Women’s on Saturday, seventh-placed Gold Coast United secured a 2-2 draw at home to high-flying Lions.
