Lightning’s go-to tower

SUNSHINE Coast goal shooter Peace Proscovia found her personal “island of paradise’’ to help the Lightning bolt away from the Firebirds with a dominant 71-56 victory in Super Netball’s “Battle of the Bruce” at Boondall yesterday.

The Ugandan import finished with 53 goals from 55 attempts as the defending champions left the Firebirds without a victory three rounds into the 2019 campaign.

The Firebirds suffered a major blow before the game when skipper and Diamonds vice-captain Gabi Simpson was a late withdrawal (groin).

And the Sunshine Coast took full advantage as Proscovia was a tower of strength at the post.

And she believes she can only improve.

“Winning today was a very amazing thing for me as an individual. Being the MVP motivates me to work harder,’’ Proscovia said.
