Man to be extradited over death

- CHRIS MCMAHON AND JASMINE MINHAS

A NUMBER of people were in Dre Nova’s home when he was allegedly bashed to death with a blunt object.

Investigators are looking into whether a defenceless Mr Nova was asleep on a chair when he was allegedly attacked.

The circumstances behind his death are still unclear as investigators wait to extradite a man back to the Coast over the death.

Family and friends told the Bulletin Mr Nova was helping failed rapper Coskun “CJ” Marius, 26, through a tough spot, letting him stay at the Markwell Ave home.

Police say Mr Nova, a father of two, died after he was hit a number of times in the head with a blunt object on Friday afternoon.

Marius (pictured) has not been charged with Mr Nova’s death.

It’s understood there were multiple people inside the home at the time of his death before one of them called emergency services.

Mr Nova died at the scene, with a police source telling the Bulletin his injuries were horrific.

A neighbour told the Bulletin on Friday there had been problems in the house for months.

An interstate manhunt was launched when Marius allegedly left the home before eventually being found in Coffs Harbour on Sunday afternoon.

It’s understood a member of the public recognised the Hi-Ace van he was driving. He was taken into custody at gunpoint.

Marius yesterday fronted a Coffs Harbour court following his arrest.

He sat handcuffed and shirtless in the dock and appeared calm as the magistrate informed him he would be extradited to Queensland over the death.

Queensland detectives watched on as the slight 26year-old made no attempt to speak, but nodded silently to Magistrate James Gibson. The court was told Marius had been on bail for unrelated matters in Queensland at the time of his arrest.

He was held in custody in the NSW town overnight and was expected to be driven back to the Coast this morning. He is expected to be questioned by Gold Coast detectives this afternoon, before fronting Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
