FUTURE STARS OF RUGBY
THE future stars of rugby union were on display when Australia took on New Zealand for the Oceania U20s championship at Bond University last Saturday night.
The Oceania tournament provides invaluable experience for Bond University students working as interns with the junior Wallabies.
Renee Hoffman is studying a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science.
“I came to Bond because it is an opportunity of a lifetime to be here with the facilities,” she said.
“One of the main reasons I’m here is the opportunities and the doors that open from being at Bond, working with this Australian team has been unbelievable.
“I have been assisting with the strength and conditioning. It’s great to be exposed to this highperformance team environment, and to see their professionalism on and off the field and how everything works like clockwork.
“The level of professionalism within the team, obviously you expect that being a national squad, but it has been great to experience it in person, it is invaluable.”
Australia claimed the Oceania title for the first time, beating New Zealand 24-0.
