A Left wing Government’s wilful destruction of a primary industry combined with insistence on the maintenance of a socialist system has a precedent: Venezuela. Williamg

My name is Pinocchio please vote for me at the next election I have promised in the next 4 years I will supply enough timber to rebuild Notre Dame Dave D

Cows and sheep are vegans. They end up on barbecues. I’d rather be a meat-eater. You don’t hear of lion steaks or tiger burgers. Shano

To the union supporter — hypocrites- the unions caused us to be uncompetitive and closed down the car manufacturing industries and other industriesand as for fightingwell we all know how the communist unions refused to help our soldiers, who were fighting, get vital supplies during World War II. HR

If you all keep voting Lib or Lab, nothing will ever get done on Gold Coast. -Marco Polo

Re Dumped Vehicles Frinton St. Owned by wreckers. Too lazy to move them. Inspectors come cars are moved but back next day. A joke. The Observer

So Observer you listen to the wrong people and don’t really understand what franking credits are. If you are an employee and your company deducts too much tax from your wages are you not entitled to a refund? No difference only rather than wages a person who receives a dividend which is pre taxed by the company is entitled to that refund. Sue

All this talk about light rail to Burleigh and eventually to airport … what is going to happen to the hard rail at Varsity Lakes? Does it just finish there going nowhere? Forget about light rail which will bring congestion on roads and parking all the way to Burleigh and concentrate on hard rail to Coolangatta Airport. BC

Interesting read about Woollies Supermarkets taking measures to stop theft at their self serve check-outs. They should be more concerned about the half eaten food items and cold drinks that are put back onto the shelves throughout the stores when the shoppers are finished having a snack.

Before I vote, I want to know which PM contender and candidate/party member in my electorate, will promise the necessary building of DAMS down the east coast of Australia. If there is no commitment to funding this urgent need,

then I will abstain from voting for anyone by just leaving my ballot paper blank. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE that would benefit the majority of Australians. … All ears for support.

What’s happening with Police in Queensland? They get attacked with scissors, knives — and bashed — aren’t they allowed to use guns anymore, Anastasia?

So some guy stabs a cop and his partner tasers him instead of shooting him, why because the bleeding hearts out there would cry and carry on about his rights. If you stab a cop then you should be shot dead no ifs or buts. You forfeit your rights.

Great idea from the dominator about an AFL magic round in future for SEQ.however I would put in a Thursday night game if 3 games are too many for Saturday. (Monday13 May). Also with 3 mid season bye rounds each year the AFL could sell the concept all around the country to state governments 3 times a year in the long term future for the benefit of the game. Excellent letter Errol Crone (GCB 9/5) I am sick to death of tired old people who shame, shame, shame! simply spend their days criticising the person behind the politics. Abbott started it with his disgraceful stuff about Gillard and people who comment on Unions know nothing about true unionism, because they were brought up in privilege! Unionist Supporter

Listening to election promises makes me wonder who Bill Shorten is representing is it the Labor Party or the Communist Party? Those who become self funded study hard for many years, work long hours and watch their money. As well as saving the Government on pensions they are the people who provide jobs for the rest of us. If Bill is so keen to overtax, he needs to follow the lead of NZ and Canada where everyone gets a pension and then income tax becomes fair. MB

‘What’s wrong with the kids these days?’ Heads up. They don’t have parents. And social media is their go-to guru. Apologies to all genuine, fulltime parents out there. But, be honest, most ‘parents’ just ‘offload’ their kids every opportunity. Just look at the budget and election promises. Childcare, childcare, childcare. Dave

Re the 1000 to all Pensioners for dental work good on you Bill Shorten, but I’m already under Qld oral health care, extractions done, gum shrinkage on the way. Guess what about 4000 worth no charge on age pension certainly worth the wait. Toothless Gummy Shark.
