DUO READY TO DAZZLE

-

BURLEIGH blues duo Hussy Hicks have lived in the same beachside apartment on the Gold Coast for the past nine years.

After starting the band 13 years ago, Leesa Gentz, originally from northern NSW, and Julz Parker, a former Elanora State School student, have played most venues in the city.

But the girls have firmly established themselves as one of the Coast’s biggest international exports, with a non-stop international touring schedule taking them to far off places like Alaska.

That’s why Hussy Hicks are excited to be back playing at Blues on Broadbeach festival this weekend before heading off on their next overseas adventure.

“The atmosphere at Blues is really special because it is free,” Ms Gentz said. “You get a lot of people come along who might not normally fork out hundreds of dollars for a festival ticket who now hear your music.

“It really does expand your fanbase and they get a perfect festival experience without having to pay.”

Following Blues on Broadbeach, the girls will jet off to the US to play in Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and Alaska, at the annual Salmonfest.

Their new single from their yet-to-be-named album Get Ready was released last month.

Blues on Broadbeach is on tomorrow until Sunday at various locations around Broadbeach. For full schedule, visit bluesonbroadbeach.com.
