DR ZOO CLEANING UP ON PET PRODUCTS

-

DOG dandruff may not sound like a lucrative gap in the market, but pawsing to think of their customers’ furry friends has led to an uplift in business for a Gold Coast company.

Pet care company Dr Zoo, a spin-off of popular Burleigh human skin care brand MooGoo, said a rebrand of its line of animal products had seen a sales increase of 115 per cent.

MooGoo founder Craig Jones said he’d seen the opportunity for growth when his customers told him they’d been using the human products on their pets.

“Using the expertise and background of MooGoo, we decided to develop a natural range of skin care for pets,” he said.

“Our most popular product is the Dr Zoo Natural Calming Shampoo. Last year we sold 4000 units.

“Today we have eight core products and 13 products overall.”

Given the clientele, the company ensures its products are “lickable”, and they are designed to avoid nasty allergies.

“Dogs in particular suffer from a few skin problems. Similar to humans they can suffer from dandruff, called canine seborrhoea,” Mr Jones (right) said.

“They can also have fungal yeast problems between their legs. There are certainly a few things that can take dog owners by surprise.”
