Ipswich in Keebra’s cup sights

-

IPSWICH SHS must overcome a full-strength Keebra Park to keep their Allan Langer Cup streak alive tonight.

A Lachlan Williamson penalty after the siren saw Ipswich upset Wavell SHS 16-14 last week but a trip to Southport is daunting for any side.

Keebra Park thumped St Mary’s 32-12 in their opening game and the addition of Reece Walsh and Kade Hill will cause plenty of problems.

The pair combined for 12 tackle breaks in Tweed’s remarkable Junior National State championship win over Illawarra with Walsh’s double and 221m haul a highlight.

Tonight isn’t any easier for St Mary’s who host a Palm Beach Currumbin side boasting returning Tweed stars Brendan Piakura, Toby Sexton (pictured), Josh Bevan and Izzy Higgins.

PBC cruised past Marsden SHS 30-14 in Round 1 but will have to shake off the two-hour haul and perform to avoid an upset in Toowoomba.

Marsden will host Wavell in the cross-Brisbane clash tomorrow night with both sides yet to win.
