3rd

9 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss B+

It’s hard to fault a side that has lost once in its maiden NPL campaign, but pre-season expectations of a title challenge appear unlikely to be met.

THE HIGHLIGHT

While the 8-0 rout of Redlands United in Round 4 was impressive, the 1-0 triumph over 2018 double winners Lions five weeks later is likely to be of far greater significance come the end of the season.

THE LOWLIGHT

In a battle between two unbeaten teams, the Knights let slip a golden opportunity to down Peninsula Power in Round 6, surrendering a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 at AJ Kelly Park.

THE STAR

The NPL’s Golden Boot winner with Gold Coast City in 2017, captain Sam Smith (pictured) has led from the front on his return to the Coast with eight goals in 12 games.

THE BACKBONE

Max Brown has again been the Knights’ midfield rock, with his box-to-box efforts rewarded with five goals this season.
