Star’s rep surges as hub looms

GAMING resort giant Star is using its nomination for a prestigious international award to remind State Government just how well regarded its Broadbeach property is globally.

Star Gold Coast is in the final five for the Global Gaming Expo Asia Awards’ ‘Best Integrated Resort in Asia outside Macau and Singapore’.

A surging Star Gold Coast – building a third five-star hotel and fast-tracking plans for a fourth tower next year – is the sole Australian integrated resort up for one of the awards.

In a statement, Star reiterated its $2 billion-plus Broadbeach masterplan included a further three towers for seven in total with hero pool features and more dining and beverage.

Star CEO Matt Bekier said: “While The Star Gold Coast has already been acknowledged with this award nomination as a world-class integrated resort, imagine how it will be viewed across Asia and the rest of the globe if we roll out the masterplan in full.

“The Star Gold Coast is making a statement – and Asia is listening.”

Star’s statement added that the company had maintained a consistent stance that market and competitor conditions would be a consideration at each stage of the masterplan.

The nomination comes as debate rages in the city about the State Government inviting registrations of interest in developing a second gaming resort on the Gold Coast under its Global Tourism Hub (GTH) process.

Star bosses have said its fully realised Broadbeach offering already qualified as a GTH.

The Global Gaming Expo Awards winners will be announced next week in Macau.

“There can be no doubt Star Gold Coast is now a worldclass integrated resort and a global tourism destination of which the city and Queensland can be justifiably proud.”
