FAREWELL TO A SALVOS LEGEND

THE end of an era for the Red Shield Appeal this year with the news that Tony Hickey is stepping down from his involvement in an official capacity with the Salvos. For the past 19 years he has been a shining light as he encouraged, cajoled and at times gleefully insulted some of the city’s heavy hitters to give and then give some more. On Wednesday he was front and centre again, welcoming one and all and then introducing Mal Meninga (pictured with Tony) to the stage as guest speaker for the launch breakfast at Crowne Plaza. He will leave very, very big shoes to fill.
