Teens catch fire ‘chroming’
AUTHORITIES believe two teenagers seriously burned in a Coast park on Friday night may have been “chroming”.
A 15-year-old girl and 13year-old boy were rushed to hospitals in Brisbane after receiving serious burns when a substance caught fire at Cascade Gardens in Broadbeach around 9pm.
A QAS spokesman said it appeared the pair may have been “inhaling volatile substances”, also known as ‘chroming’ before the substance caught alight due to a cigarette.
The girl suffered significant burns to her face and upper body. She was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The boy received burns to his arms and legs and was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
