BROADIE’S LOSSES END WITH A 9-0 STATEMENT

- ELIZA REILLY

AFTER three consecutive losses, it took Broadbeach until their Elaine Watson Cup showdown against Pine Hills to break through for a foreboding 9-0 win.

The Dolphins haven’t been able to put a win on the board since late March, when they downed North Brisbane by five goals.

Coach Sarah Evans said while yesterday’s win wouldn’t do anything for their Brisbane Women’s Premier League finals chances, it would give them self-belief.

“Obviously they (Pine Hills) are a lower division side but we’re coming off three losses so it was a good opportunity for us to build some confidence,” she said.

“We had a lot of composure with the ball and shared our goals among three players, which was really good to see.”

Strikers Jade Bianchetti (four goals), Rose Argent (three) and Danielle Inglish (two) all combined beautifully in the mauling.

“They’re our three attacking players so it was good to see them get on the board as well as seeing our structure and shape work well,” Evans said.

Left back Lydia Toghill was awarded player of the match.

“She was a really strong player for us and held her position and showed good confidence with the ball,” Evans said.

After getting knocked out of the past two cups, Evans is hoping this year will see the Dolphins achieve success.
