Coast cops crack down on ice crime
GOLD Coast police have taken part in a major operation targeting drugs and crime in Logan.
The two week long Operation Romeo-Velodrome focused on drug-related crime linked to ice in the Logan area.
Police seized a large quantity of meth, cocaine, MDMA, morphine, prescription drugs, cannabis, six guns – including shotguns and a handgun – ammo and about $10,000 in cash.
A large amount of suspected stolen property was also seized, including four motorbikes, two cars, a trailer, four camper trailers, a caravan, ride-on lawnmower, airconditioning units, iPads, tablets, mobile phones and jewellery.
In total police charged 118 people with 342 offences across the operation.
Detective Inspector Chris Knight from Logan District CIB said that these intelligence driven and highly focused operations will continue.
“Our aim is to disturb criminal activity, in particular illegal drug distribution and property offences, in the Logan District,” Insp Knight said.
“As a result of information supplied from the public we have removed a large quantity of drugs from our community.
“This a demonstration of police and the community working together to stop the scourge of drugs on our streets.”
