Police want pay justice
TASMANIAN police officers injured in the line of duty are forced to take a pay cut while they recover but politicians are being urged to end the controversial policy.
Legislation is before the state’s Upper House to remove the step-down provisions.
“Current provisions mean police officers badly assaulted at work doing their duty, who are then off work recovering from those injuries, are subject to reductions in their salaries,” Police Association president Colin Riley said. “This has a massive impact on the lives of our members, active police officers and their families.”
