NEW MEMORIES, AND AN OLD ONE

TOM and Ruth Tate are rapidly adding new people to their extended family. In March they became beaming grandparents with the arrival of baby Anna courtesy of their son David and his wife Katie. Now their only daughter Emily, while on holiday in Japan, has announced her engagement to the love of her life Phillip Stephens. Guess where they first met? At the Gold Coast Mayoress Ball in 2017.

EILEEN “Red” Bond certainly has a good memory. Taking her photo at the 30th Anniversary Gala of Bond University on Saturday night she said to moi, “Have you still got that hat?” The chapeau in question was a stylish Akubra which Eileen admired many years ago at a ground-breaking ceremony at the university. And, yes, it’s still at home.
