Nick on centre stage

-

CANBERRA are confident Nick Cotric’s move to the centres will revitalise his form following a sluggish start to the season from the youngster.

Cotric burst onto the scene as an 18-year-old in Round 1 of 2017 and played every game of his first two seasons, scoring 28 tries in 48 appearances.

The performances took him to within a whisker of getting picked in Brad Fittler’s NSW squad for the Origin opener last year, but he was 18th man.

The fourth-placed Raiders are flying this season but Cotric has endured a slow start.

However, a switch to centre against table-toppers South Sydney last week brought Cotric closer to the action and delivered his season’s best game.

Canberra host North Queensland on Saturday and Green Machine halfback Sam Williams backed Cotric to have another strong game.

“I thought he was good last week,” Williams said.

“He’s such a powerful and skilful young player.”
