Coal mine in ‘Eden’ future
AN eco-tourism development is the latest proposal for a former Victorian coal mine.
Alcoa wants community feedback about its proposed $150 million “rehabilitation” of the 325ha Anglesea site, which they say will turn it into an eco-tourism attraction.
In partnership with the people who built Britain’s The Eden Project, it will aim to become a destination for immersive education and experiences that celebrate the local ecology and tell a story of sustainability. The concept will be presented to Anglesea residents over the next two weeks.
