Widodo in official win
PRESIDENT Joko Widodo has won the Indonesian election, according to the election commission’s official count, drawing a line under a vitriolic poll despite opposition claims of cheating.
Mr Widodo polled 55.5 per cent of the votes against 44.5 per cent for his challenger, retired General Prabowo Subianto, in last month’s election, the count released yesterday by the General Election Commission said.
It confirms unofficial counts by private pollsters of the April 17 election, giving Mr Widodo a comfortable victory.
