Yard fire charges

-

TWO teens allegedly behind a bizarre arson attack in a Gold Coast car yard, which saw an ice-cream truck set on fire, have been charged by police.

An 18-year-old Cornubia man and an 18-year-old Molendinar man were charged with entering premises with intent and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

It is alleged that the pair forced their way into a car yard on Industrial Ave, Molendinar, on May 4 at 1am.

The yard was used by a tow company to secure damaged vehicles from traffic accidents.

The men allegedly entered several vehicles before a fire destroyed three cars – a 2010 Ford Transit ice-cream truck, a 2008 Jeep Cherokee and a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia – and then fled the scene.

They are due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on May 31 and May 28 respectively.
