CAULFIELD CUP PLUGS INTO NYC GRID

THE bright lights and eclectic energy of New York City will be the inspiratio­n for this year’s Caulfield Cup Carnival.

The Melbourne Racing Club is stepping up the trackside glamour and entertainm­ent with a nod to one of the most exciting cities in the world, after featuring Malibu last carnival and LA in 2017.

Victoria’s Secret model and David Jones ambassador Victoria Lee said referencin­g the best of the city would inject a fun vibe into the carnival.

“New York has this incredible energy, it’s fun and exciting. It’s one of those cities that everyone can identify with,” Lee said.

MRC chief commercial officer Peta Webster said the club had developed a reputation for stepping outside the standard offering trackside and NYC was the perfect theme.

“The Melbourne Racing Club aims to create worldclass, unforgetta­ble experience­s for all guests, and what other city on Earth does that better than New York?” Ms Webster said. “From the moment you walk into Caulfield you’re going to know something special is happening because we are going to start the experience from the outside. Even on the trains on the way in, there will be surprises.”

The NYC theme will officially launched in Manhattan tonight at the Mr. Purple rooftop bar, marking the beginning of early bird ticketing and dining for the October racing carnival.
