A dedicated Blues on Broadbeach fan, she was full of praise for our community spirit. “I was walking along on the weekend and this man went running past me clutching a woman’s handbag,” explained Melissa. “Almost immediately a pack of about eight men also went past in hot pursuit. Apparently he had snatched the bag from a lady and taken off but the locals weren’t having any of it and took after him. They caught him very quickly, he ended up in a garden bed with dirt all over his face, and held him until the police arrived. Don’t misbehave on the Gold Coast – we have heroes on every corner.”
