GOLD Coast United and Palm Beach have joined forces to offer free football training for children and adults living with mental or physical disabilities.

The Accessible Football Program will kick off at 9am on June 2, offering players of all abilities a safe, structured environment to take part in.

The program is the brain child of Palm Beach’s Jay Hoy and United general manager Rob Morris, who said all were welcome.

“The opportunity to create a free program that gives everyone the chance to experience the world game is a great thing,” Morris said.

“I was really excited about the idea when Jay spoke to me about putting together a football program for people of all abilities.”

Hoy’s ambitions for the program are simple.

“All we want is for the participants to be happy and excited to come to the next session,” Hoy said.

The program will run monthly out of United’s new headquarters at Coplick Family Sports Park in Tallebudgera and will be coordinated by Hoy, as well as a group of accredited volunteer coaches, including former Socceroo Michael Thwaite.

Program organisers are looking for businesses who may be interested in covering the cost of playing strips. For more information, email robm@goldcoastunitedfc.co m.au
