GEE, APPOINTMENT’S A MASSIVE STEP UP

-

ALL the talk in police circles is about Deputy Commissioner Bob Gee being appointed as director-general of the new Youth Justice Department, in what is a huge boost in position and pay.

Police in lower ranks had been assured the Deputy Commissioner was going nowhere after he lost out to Fire and Rescue Commissioner Katarina Carroll for the top job to replace Ian Stewart as police commissioner.

“Gee and the new commissioner do not get along. When at the disaster centre during the recent cyclones, they would not talk to each other,” a police source says.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk owns the appointments, with the source suggesting that three months ago she spoke privately about wanting to appoint the first woman police commissioner in Queensland.
