SIGNS BROADIE’S BOUNCING BACK

- ALISTER THOMSON

A TATTOOIST and barber is set to move into a 12-monthold vacancy in the Victoria Square complex in Broadbeach as the leasing market shows signs of recovery in the wake of a spate of shop closures.

Blackmarket Collective Gold Coast Tattoo Studio has signed a three-year lease for the 130sq m vacancy at 16-17/15 Victoria Ave.

It was home to the Aztec Mexican Restaurant, which vacated more than a year ago.

Marketing agent Brandon Johnson, of Ray White Commercial Gold Coast, said the Broadbeach retail leasing market was showing signs of recovery, with a number of deals being signed recently, including for Rumi Persian Restaurant on Surf Pde.

Mr Johnson said the owners decided to drop the asking price of $130,000 per annum net to entice the tenant to come in, with plans to raise the rent after a market review.

“The market has taken a hit but is showing positive signs,” he said.

“The owners of this one have done a deal at $52,000 per year net with a market review commencing in the third year in the hope that Broadbeach is bouncing back.”

NRDB Pty Ltd, linked to Jagoda Kitanovski, owns the Victoria Square property.
